Dakota-
The 285/60/18 or 285/50/18 will more than likely
rub on a 2wd Dakota even at stock ride height at the front
on the bumper cap where it wraps around and at the closest point on the
frame inside thre front wheel well at the back of the tire.
I tried stuffing a 305/60/17 NITTO NT 404
on my 2001 4wd R/C Dakota and this is where I had a
rubbing situation that I described . I was using a 17x9 R/T
wheel and had to drop to a 275/65/17 NITTO NT 404.
I would suggest fitting the tire to the front of the
Dakota first and then install a matching rear so they can be rotated easier.
A 255/55/18 might fit your Dakota, it has a overall diameter of
28.9" and just might provide enough
clearance.
