Preferably with the filter facing upward as to hold the oil (It also makes
for cleaner oil changes). Some other tips: unless you're adding an oil
cooler, shorter is better for keeping oil pressure up, as are less turns and
fittings, also look to keep the lines fairly level.
Placement, on an L-bracket mounted inside of the frame is a possibility too.
Just make it easier to get to if you're going to the trouble to move it ;-)
