Yes, if you don't change out the PCM.

Subject: DML: What to do about EGR on engine swap

Ok I am in process of swapping a 93 3.9 for a 97 3.9. Keeping the 93 wiring
and controller. The question is waht to do about the EGR system. I really
don't want to chnage intake and exhaust manifold for the EGR.

If I remove the EGR valve will it trigger any problems with performance?

Thanks in advance
