which way to aim sub?

got a great deal on a sony explode sub 10" with enclosure, plan to install
it in the rear of the club cab.

which way would provide optimum bass, face the sub toward the front seat,
with about 3-6" of clearance, towards the rear of the truck (same
clearance), or facing up? (prefer not to face sub up as it's bright red and
easy to see this way.
