Yeah, it could be alot of things, but sounds like a control module problem
to me.

Welcome to the DML. Your problem may be the switch or something known as
the clockspring. There are TSB's on this but I don't know whether it
affects your year. Check with your dealer.

Subject: DML: New to the list - and a cruise control question

Hi guys (and gals)! I just joined the list and wanted
to introduce myself and ask a question to see if
someone can help me.

My name is Wylie and I live in Norman, OK (about 20 mi
south of Oklahoma City). I have a 99 Dak CC SLT 2wd
with the 3.9L - two-tone flame red and silver. I've
owned it now for almost two years and have about
31,000 mi on it. I commute to OKC so I spend a lot of
time in my truck. It is bone stock but I'd like to
improve the performance and mileage a little, so
that's why I joined the list.

My only problem so far is that the cruise control has
been going south on me for about the last 6 months.
It started out where it would occasionally not come on
when I'd push the 'on' switch (next to the steering
wheel hub). The 'cruise on' light didn't light and of
course the cruise didn't work (the light comes on when
I first start it). As time has gone by, it has gotten
worse and is now to the point where it only works once
in a blue moon. I suspect the switch, but I'd welcome
any other suggestions anyone can give me before I
start swapping parts willy-nilly.

Anyway, looking forward to reading about what everyone
else is doing with their rides, and thanks for any
advise you can give me.
