The fan engages with a viscous fluid in that grey disc it's attached to.
  When it's hot or cold, sometimes it'll "stick" and it'll be engaged
for a couple minutes to a couple seconds. While that's going on, your
engine will seem really loud, and it may feel like you've lost power.
TOtally normal.
