IDS!!! Independent rear!!! AKKKK NOO SAY THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!! I
scoffed and laughed when the Expediton launched in 2003 with an IRS...
now I'm going to throw that same sound of disgust at Dodge (read Daimler
Benz CREEPS!)
The truck and SUV market is getting really cushy. The consumer cries:
Ohh! eep! akk! roll over risk!! I'm scared!! - - - WELL BUY A CAR!!
The more the auto industry builds trucks and SUVs for the grocery
getters, the less of a selection the off road inthusiast will have! I
would have to say that more than half (just guessing) of the SUV's on
the market now have offroad compromised suspensions!!
have you SEEN the IRS on the Buick SUV?? (the one tiger woods advertises
- I forgot the things name)
The first time that I saw one of those ugly mothers, I thought the
suspension in the rear was broken, because it was so LOW!!
Because the industry is building "softer" 4x4s (most SUV's are AWD now
too, instead of a 4x4 system), they are making it difficult for someone
to buy a offroad capable set of wheels. Anyone who has taken a Dak off
road knows that the IFS on the front end really does limit offroad
capability. (most obvious is ground clearence)
(Adam Blaster seems to either think otherwise or is oblivious of the
disadvantages of IFS heheeheheh)
The only option for a good trail rig is quickly becoming, to spend
thousands for custom work! Not everyone can afford that!
Fine - mister big auto company says "no one wants a truck with a solid
front axle other than heavy duty commercial rigs!" - - "the niche
market is too small!"
Why not at least make it an option for those who DO want it? To that I
bet they would say "It cost to much to develop a solid axle truck" or
"cost would be prohibitive" ( I am aware that developing a car or
truck is not cheap - so don't shoot me over that point)
ugh... I better stop here before Jon banns me from the list for crashing
the servers with this huge email... I'm sorry but a Dodge SUV or truck
with a IRS set up?? Give me a break. Unfortunatly I bet that the IRS
suspension WILl sell better because the grocery getters (who never see
anything but pavement) want that cushy ride.
If the new Dak doesn't at least have a solid rear axle... I won't even
consider it. And they damned well better not make it look ugly either.
I will now burn my soap box in a ritual ceremony on the front lawn of
Diamler corperation.
