Well, I finally got my truck to start. I talked to my dad this afternoon
and went back over what we had already done in an attempt to fix the
problem. We knew we were getting good spark everywhere and fuel. Now the
question was, is the timing off or perhaps there isn't enough fuel?
With those questions in our mind we thought, is it possible that it's
getting TOO MUCH fuel??? So, I went out and tried to start the truck as
usual hoping that it somehow fixed itself overnight. I tried 3 times and
got the same no start condition. On the off chance that the truck was
getting too much fuel, I attempted to start it like I used to start my old
87 (carb'ed) dak when it got flooded.....hold the gas pedal to the floor and
crank it til it starts. Would you believe that it only turned over about 3
or 4 times and fired right up? I couldn't believe it. Once started it ran
like new.
Now the question is, what's causing it to get too much fuel on a cold
start-up? I started it up a couple more times after I let it run a while
and it started fine. Could the throttle position sensor be the cause?
Thanks to Jim, Bob, Brett, Jon, Bill and others who've taken time to help
me figure this out. These things are VERY frustrating.
Thanks again!
