I thought I had a bad tensioner pulley recently. Went to Advance and
they sell the Dayco replacement for about $20...put it on in a sec and
started the car. About 4 screaming seconds later, the stock washer had
locked down the tensioner and the belt melted it. I took it back to
Advance and they gave me a full refund once I showed that I was using
the stock bolt and washer and you could see where it had just bitten
into the new pulley.
I then went to Dodge for a replacement pulley but they only sell the
entire unit with the spring and all for over $100...I said no thanks...I
lubed up the old one a bit and put on a new belt and no more noise. Go
figure...

Yup I had a similar experience with the belt tensioner I just replaced
the
pulley. Did the belt while I was at it. Now I got a different problem
when
I floor it around 2000 rpm I get a noise that sounds like an exhaust
leak
from somewhere in the engine compartment. Guess I know what I'll be
doing
this weekend. Could be your tensioner or pulley slowly going out. Turn
on
the engine and see if the noise is coming from that side. I sprayed
some
lub on the pulley while it was running and the noise went away.
