4.7 vs 3.9 gas consumption?

hmmm a friend of mine says he gets better mileage from his 4.7 then I do
from my 3.9?

anyone explain this to me?

we have same gearing, he is a clubcab same as me.

I average 400KM per tank, he says he gets 500-600KM, mixed city/highway.
