I was getting about 12.9MPG (city/freeway mixture) with the 4.7 (always like
to mesh the pedal to the floor).

The bigger Dodge gets 10.9 - 11.4. Go figure.

yes, he likely is getting better mileage

his motor is not working as hard as your v6

I get roughly 12mpg oon a good tank with my v6, 3.55 4x4 CC and 42x20.5x15
were I got about 18 when i ran the stock LT or P235 75R15
