I have a story to tell about a bumper hitch incident.
Towing to Northern Michigan in my 92 Dakota CC ..the return trip to Southern
Michigan I notice a strange sway.
I stopped to check it out and my bumper hitch had come apart at the
welds...only one weld held the thing together. It was rated for more than I
was towing but I would have to think the jarring of hitting bumps stained it
to the breaking point.

I was luck to be able to get to a trailer and towing store and had a bumper
hitch installed within a couple of hours and was on my way...I learned a
lesson about hitch ratings...get something rated for substantially more than
you plan to tow.
