i actually had a project that worked... and with the trans... well i
was pretty lucky to get this much out of it. i had 126k miles with the
original fluid... everyone complains about 100k miles and they're
done... so got my use out of it. it should be good for a long time
now. i'll make sure and change the fluid. and i put a big ass tranny
cooler on it...
You went 126K on your ORIGINAL FACTORY tranny fluid???
Damn DooD! I'd say your pretty lucky to have done that for sure. I'd say
it would have lasted even longer had the fluid been changed even semi
regularly.
The a-500 over drive grenaded in my 89 2wd a couple years ago, taking
out the rest of the trans - at only 98K miles - Not sure when the fluid
was changed in that truck as I wasn't the original owner. It was my
grandfathers truck - and considering he only fixed things if they broke
- It might have been the original fluid as well. Took it to AAMCO
(duhhh I'm a retard) not gonna open that story up - just dont go to
AAMCO ever - even if they are thr last place on earth
The a-500 in my 4x4 89 is starting to get pissy on me to now - I had the
overdrive and lockup solenoids replaced around june of 2002...
overdrive wasnt working and my fuel economy was around 9-11 mpg with a
V6 (gak)
And now the torque converter was buzzing and ratteling just prior to the
truck being mothballed this winter.
Have I mentioned lately how much I hate the A-500?
