next Dakota purchase

Over the next year I will be replacing two cars, a '94 Jeep Grand
Cherokee with a '96-'98 model and my '00 Dakota QC (4.7L, 4WD) with a
new Dak.

Financially, it would be much easier on me to replace the Cherokee
first, but I want to be sure to get a new Gen III Dakota - this time
exactly as I want it (4WD CC). The Cherokee is to put miles on, and
normal trips to Mexico. The Dak is for some off-roading (hunting,
rougher trips to Mexico) and hauling stuff.

Since car-truck.com went down, I don't have a reliable source on DC
info. I can't ask the DC or salesmen at dealership, since they will
always encourage me to buy NOW!

So, my questions are...

- The Gen IV Dak will appear as an early '05, right, so I could hold off
ordering the Gen III until say March '04?

- I read that the 4.7L with the 45RFE has the same bolt pattern as the
current production 5.7L HEMI - is that correct?

- I currently have 3.92 gears, would I be better off with the 3.55 for
towing and off-road?

- What is the real difference between the NV233 and NV244 transfer
cases?

Originally, I was toying with the idea of having one of the
semi-sanctioned performance mod companies put a HEMI in on day 1, but
practicality and finances dictate this is something to consider once the
warranty expires.

Thanks,
Brian T. Carter
