Downey LTD (Lift Top Design) here. Soft tonneau that's hinged. Best of
both worlds.

There's no "if". It definitely does.

A hinged soft tonneau is probably your best bet. You pay a premium over
a non-hinged model but IMHO the convenience is well worth it. I can
disassemble my Downey in about 5 minutes, and reassemble in about the
same. The rails and bracket go in the bed or in the cab, same with the
vinyl, if I'm away from home and need to move something.
I like the idea of a hard tonneau (massive locked space) but if I'm out
somewhere and buy something big, I'm stuck. Plus, that's a big hunk of
fiberglass to be manhandling on my own when I do remove/install it.

Nope. Just have to adjust your brackets, etc. for the extra thickness.
Shouldn't be any problem.
