Winter grille inserts

I have a relatively short drive to/from work (8 miles) and don't get any
in-cab heat until about 3 miles down the road (if I'm lucky). And
winter hasn't really gotten here yet. I'm thinking about getting some
grille inserts to help the engine get up to temperature quicker (link
below). Is there a certain temperature point above which I shouldn't
use them? Are they only good for extreme cold?
