The FSM also tells you to remove the A/C and Alternator to get to the
t'stat...you don't have to do that either. ;)

Replace the bulbs on several Dakota's ranging from '92-'04...never had
to remove the headlamp assembly.

Uhh, not really sure how you'd do that. The owners manual and FSM both
say
to remove the lamp assembly in order to replace the bulb.

On the passenger side, the back of the headlamp assembly is fully
covered
-- not possible to reach the back of the bulb to get it out that I could

tell. I can *see* the back of the bulb, but there's only about a 2"
opening to reach the bulb... not gonna happen. The drivers side is
somewhat better but not a whole lot.

I must be missing something, Bernd, since I'm sure you know what you're
talking about -- why the heck does the FSM (not to mention the owners
manual, for average joe dummy) say to remove the whole assembly?

So you can see exactly what I mean...

Bulb replacement instructions:
http://www.billpitz.com/bulb.pdf

Step 2 says "Remove headlamp assembly" and refers you to the
instructions
for removing the assembly:
http://www.billpitz.com/assembly.pdf

(Figure one from the assembly doc. is *exactly* the diagram that's in
the
owners manual in the section that describes bulb replacement.)
