Nope!
The R/Ts are rated to tow only 2000 pounds because of their lower
stance not having room for any sag. You should look into a weight
distributing hitch setup - on a light duty truck like ours, I would
avoid propping up the backend without helping to transfer some of the
weight to the front. If you're sitting that low in back, it's got to
be affecting your steering as well, and that's a Bad Thing.
As for what the limits of our trucks are based upon, that's difficult
to say: even if the trans is the weakest link, the engineers have no
reason to build anything else that much stronger, since the tow rating
is what it is. Don't exceed your tow ratings, especially not
regularly: it's asking for trouble.
