Well, this is just an informative post more than
anything.
There was a very hard rain in South Florida on Friday
of last week. On Monday, my wife found three quarts
of water on the floor board of the passenger side. It
was in that floor board, also down the door sill into
the back floor board, and also under the seat in the
rear.
Initially it was thought that the replacement
windshield had been faulty, but that was later not
found to be the case.
The intake for the AC/Vent system is under the cowl on
the passenger side. The rubber/foam gasket that is
suppose to surround that intake was installed
incorrectly, allowing water to 'flow' by the intake
and enter the vehicle. There is a raised lip around
the intake, but it wasn't enough to prevent the heavy
rain from entering the vehicle.
At the present time, Dodge is doing some 'diagnotics'
to find the problem. This is already costing my wife
$105 just for them to look at it. The problem
location was shown to them, including a digital
picture. They are going to try and get out of paying
for the repairs and replacing the carpet (which is
TRASHED). It really isn't a recall issue at this
point, but a manufacturing defect in the assembly
line. Also, for those that might interject, the
vehicle is 6,000 miles out of standard warranty, so
that is why the dealership is fighting this.
In case I need the information, is there a common
phone number for litigation problems?? I already have
the phone number for DC Customer Care, but I want the
additional info if I can get it.
Also, I have a digital picture that I can post,
showing the problem and what it looks like. Anyone
have a place I can post it?? A Dakota site would
probably be best.
Regards,
Brad
