   Hi Dean,

Welcome to the list! I'm glad you were able to make it to the BBQ and
especially that you had a good time. :-) Hopefully we'll see you there
next year as well!

: Of course, I am one of the anti-social Jeep people. I wanted to come over,
: but since I was new, I had no clue what to do. However, you people were the
: host, so you should have came over to us.

Hehehe! Yeah, sorry about that whole thing; I wouldn't put too
much stock in it. :-) I sort've do an internal "eye roll" when I
read or hear an "us vs them" type opinion, there's really no reason
for it. I suppose its just the tendancy of groups - people will
generally hang around with the folks they are familiar with, so
its probably only natural for the groups to tend to divide like
that. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know I stayed up WAY
too late the previous few nights so I was really dragging by the
time Saturday rolled around - it was easier to just sit in one
place and watch the goings-on. :-) It doesn't help much that
I'm not much of a socializing type person to begin with, but I
will personally make a better effort to mingle next year. (Heck,
I won't hang around with those durn Dakota folks at ALL! Err, well
maybe now that's going too far in the other direction.) :-)

Everyone in SCORE whom I have met so far has been extremely
friendly/nice/etc. and I would hate to see some sort of bad
seed planted via something like a simple misunderstanding or some
poorly chosen words which could grow bigger as the years go by and
end up who knows where...

: I am a bit disappointed though. I want to see you guys throw some mud in
: the pit. But, the guy hauling through the woods and blowing his tire was quite
: the show.

Yep! The mud pit action wasn't as fast and furious this year,
and a lot of that was our fault. :-( The main problem was that
when everyone was down at the pit, our resident "mud pit specialist"
had run into town to get some things so we were lacking our
insanity catalyst. :-) When the Adam Blaster gets near the
pit, all bets are off! ;-) (White Cherokee)

Part of it may have been due to the fact that I wasn't able to
pump it down as much as I wanted to. I had to start on it late
because it had been driven through before I had a chance to drain
it and so I had to wait for it to settle somewhat so I wouldn't
damage my pump. Next year I'll try to get it drained the day before
anyone arrives. :-) My goal with the mud pit is generally to get
all of the water out - leaving just enough to keep the mud from
drying out. As we have discovered, water on the mud makes for a
great spash when you hit the water, but wreaks absolute havok on
the vehicles. I think if it were just a big sloppy mud pit
rather than something which resembles a pond, more people would be
apt to give it a try.

: I look forward to getting together with you guys in the future,
: unfortunately, our club does only 1 or two off road events a year, so we have
: to wait another year.

Sounds good; see you then! :-)
