Yep, in these late model vehicles, you really are better off
just selling the truck and buying another the way you want it.
It will be cheaper that way, and much less hassle. Plus, consider
your resale value; most people would be very hesitant to buy a
"converted" vehicle like that, even if it was done "right". Either
that, or just learn to live with the stick. :-)
The only situations where such a conversion might make sense
with a daily driver type vehicle is if you have a sentimental
attachment to the truck and plan to keep it forever, or if it
were an older vehicle, which might even have a kit available for
such a swap. Obviously the latter does not apply to your Dak,
it will be up to you to decide if the former is worth the hassle
and expense. I haven't priced such a conversion myself, but I
should think you could easily spend $5K on such a conversion,
and possibly even double that, depending on where you get your
parts, wether you can do it yourself or have to pay a shop,
etc... Heck, for that kind of money, you can keep the Dak
for play and get an automatic transmission attached to a cheap
commuter car for driving in the city. ;-)
