I have had this problem on my 98. It never showed till i moved to Utah.
Mine had some paint peeling on the roof as well but it was on the back
of the roof just above the brake light and some small spots on the hood.
This particular problem has been talked about on the DML in the past,
but not many have had the issue. Tim Altoff i think was also having
problems with his SY dak with spots on the hood, roof, and bed basically
all the surfaces that pointed up. I tried to talk to dodge to get it
fixed considering their paint issues in the past, but they would have no
part of it. they offered to pay 30% to have just the affected spot
repaired, but i told them to go pound sand. Unfortunately my truck was
in an accident so when it got repaired i just had the body shop go ahead
and refinish the roof for me, and they only charged about $100.
I do wash and wax the truck often, some may say i am over zealous (but
they are probably not on this list!), but it still didnt seem to prevent
this from occurring on my truck.
