how to bleed a clutch system?

Hi,

I had to replace the slave cyl on my '97 and though I tried to remove as
much air as possable, I am still unable to pump up the clutch enough to make
it work...

I had understood it was saposed to be "self bleeding" so I left it overnite
to see if the air will work it's way up any out, but somehow doubt it...

Any ideas?????
