Greg is one of the environmentally friendly types. Even his house is wind &
solar powered. He used to go around himself to collect used oil but said it
was a pain so now he just has it delivered to 2 big 300 gal tanks behind his
house. He’s still paying for it but it’s considerably cheaper than diesel
fuel. He’s hooked up with a local waste recycler who collects it from
restaurants in the area and fills one of Greg’s storage tanks. Greg then runs
the oil through a series of filters and into the second tank, which stores it
until he needs to fill the storage tank in the car. He runs diesel to start
the car and preheat the oil. Once the oil is up to temp (about 70 degrees) he
flips a switch and runs off pure veg. oil. Then, he just needs to switch back
to diesel and/or back flush the fuel lines with diesel before shutting down.
Every time I’ve discussed with him, sound like it works awesome. One of my
first questions was how the car performs and he told me the car actually has
more pep on the Veg oil which surprised me.

I guess he makes up for me since I have an allergy to fuel efficient vehicles.
But I myself want to convert a CTD Ram someday also. And if we get to buy the
house next year, I’ve already started researching wind/solar systems for the
place.
