Hey folks-
I have a 2004 4x4 with the 3.7L and 3.92 axles. I'm coming up on
12000 miles and see in the maintenance schedule B that I'm due to
replace the front and rear axle fluid. If I have the dealership do it
it'll run me $180.
My question is, is this really necessary? If following schedule A,
which isn't the "severe duty" schedule, they NEVER dictate changing the
axle fluid. I don't pull a big trailer, don't haul heavy loads
terribly often, etc. It's just my daily driver.
So, in practice, is this service every year money well spent, or is a
longer interval OK? If they blow up before the warranty runs out, are
they going to stick it to me because I didn't follow the severe duty
schedule? They told me when I bought it (candidly) that no matter how
I drive I had to follow sched. B...
Thanks,
Korey
