Too Hot in the Dak

Ok it's now in the mid 90's and humid, and I now *really* need to get me
heating issue fixed. I've got a bunch of the dash pulled off, but havn't
made it to the control unti to find the "heat control door" thing that the
temp cable is attached to. After the dak warms up, it blows (or leaks as I
don't turn on the fan) nice hot air. I'm fairly certain something in the
control or door is messed up as it is hard to move the lever. Anyone ever
have a similar problem, or know an easy way to get at the door without
draining the coolant and refrigerant out and pulling off the entire unit?

The movement of the cable is fairly stiff, but I can feel part of the cable
and feel it moving when I move the temp control, but I havn't yet made it to
the place where it attaches to the door to see if that works.
