Yep, that would make sense. I wanted to add (though not actually in your case)
typically I saw 5 way connectors on smaller trailers with surge brakes and the
5th wire was wired into the reverse circuit to disable the brakes when backing
up. It's not a commonly used connector, typically it's 4, 6 or 7 way
connectors, with 4 & 7 being the most common.
