I bought the lift from Conroe Equipment sales, online.
I called instead of just going through their online checkout, They were
'stand up' about pricing and when I looked at it, the price was about $100
more expensive and they told me the price on the phone and all the
particulars, It will be drop shipped from Bend-Pak directly in about 8
business days.
It cost a little more than $2399 because of residential shipping as they
would have to transfer it to a box truck to deliver instead of an 18
wheeler, approx $100 more in shipping, I'll get shipping numbers once they
move it to the box truck. I also had to make sure the truck had a 'drop
gate' so they could lower it off the truck. Its over 1500 lbs so Its not
an easy to move item.
I have to make sure I have enough bodies to move it when it gets
here but they should be able to back up to the shop, use a pallet
jack and adjust the drop gate and roll it in but I am not counting on
anything.
After more than 25 years of creepers, floor jacks, too short jack stands
and the constant 'down and under' I'll be able to see more, do more, and
not get as much garbage dumped on me when I fix something. I'm tired of
the dirt and mud,rust that gets past the safety glasses, in my mouth, and
all over me because I rubbed up against something while under the vehicle. It
won't all be gone, but it will be reduced.
It will eventually pay for itself in my mind by giving me a much better
work area and the ability to do more stuff myself than taking our
daily drivers to a shop. Just being able to change the oil without laying
flat on my back will be wonderful.
I also have a couple of projects coming up that requires body removal that
without the lift I won't be able to do. Like a frame off restoration of a
1928 Model A ford that is my Father-in-laws. It was to be a retirement
project for him but Macular Degeneration runied his sight so he can no
longer see well enough to do it and my wife has many memories of riding on the
running boards when she was a kid in the late 50s/60s. It was her fathers
daily driver back then and he drove it up until about '75 and it has been
parked in a garage in Ohio ever since. Lots of work but it would be nice to
complete it and give them both back some memories. Better stock up on
PB-Blaster for those over 75 year old nuts.
