On my early Daks, I remove the shock and then rent/borrow an internal
spring compressor from Auto-Zone to totally relieve the tension on the
lower a-arm before any pickle-fork action takes place on the ball joint.
I don't need an extra-enthusiastic spring of that size suddenly sensing
that freedom can be found in my general direction.
