Do yourself a HUGE favor and check out Budget, Penske & Ryder. Like
Mike said, they'll have better equipment - I would NEVER use UHaul
equipment for a cross-country move. The last time I rented UHaul, it
was a 24' truck, the low beams didn't work, and the transmission
constantly felt like it was slipping (my brother actually drove). The
time before that, I got a 17' truck and the steering was so sloppy I
had to turn the wheel 90 degrees before it engaged.

We've rented from Budget twice since and the trucks were solid. My
father in law rented Penske when they moved about 18 months ago and
the truck was amazing - I think it was less than 5 years old, but I
don't usually see "old" Penske trucks on the road.
