Re-use Wheel bearing nuts.....long..........

Ok the bonding continues/ed.......

After the 8 hour ordeal to do the passenger ball joints had to goto work about 250 miles away from home on the nasty driver's side ball joints.

Made the trip safely, made a bunch of OT and DT, got home and did the drivers ball joints. Only too 4 hours this time......

During these ordeals saw that my brakes needed changing and the rotors needed cutting. So I look in the book and it says pop the "retainers" aka funky saw tooth washers and pull off the disks. Well the retainers succumb in short order to the dikes, but the driver's disk won't come off so I whack it a few times with a hammer still no joy. OK let's pull the whole shebang. WOW that's a big NY-lock nut. Hmmn dial calipers say 1.386" wonder what that is metric...ah handy calculator tells me a tad over 35mm or a tad under 36. Off to sears funny no 35mm but they have a 36mm. Back home on the rattle gun starts to take it off then it boggs. 1/2 breaker bar and 4' of 3/4" Cu pipe on the end off it comes, same thing on the other side. lug em across the street to the machine shop.

"They'll be done in a couple hours." Head back over after 3 hours, there was a back up @ the lathe.......couple hours later just before they are going to close well we saved one but the one with the hammer marks is toast, we pressed it off the hub for you......next door to the parts store get new one and they had one in stock. Back home about 20 minutes later all done.

Now for the question the wheel bearing NY-locks have stamped in them "do not re-use." They went back on as hard as they came off so I am thinking that the stamping was there for the lawyers, primarily to protect dodge? Have put another 75 on the thing since I finished........

Jim
at least the next thing that should go is easy to fix....the RWSS.....
