What Tom said.....but....rather than using a tap for cleaning threads you
should use a thread chaser. Taps will cut new threads, possibly making
existing ones weaker. Plus, the taps I have won't clean all the way to the
bottom of a hole.
Chasers will clean and straighten threads without cutting. Jeg's has an
