my thought exactly. if it's running well but smoking, head gasket or
badly cracked head is likely. check the plugs for a good indicator
on something amiss in 1 or 2 cyls.
if it's running but not wanting to move and making ugly noises in
gear, that's gotta be transmission.
but why at the exact same time? that's a hell of a coincidence.
