P0442 is not always going to be a gas cap. It's a small EVAP leak which is
a leak that is roughly .020". Check all of your hoses for cracks (even a
hairline crack can cause this code). As for the good trips to clear it -
you'd be better off clearing the code with the scanner as it takes up to
1700 minutes for the system monitors to run and they run with the engine
OFF.

Subject: DML: P0442 not the gas cap?

At least I guess it wasn't. I've had the code for a
couple weeks, and have driven my Dak several times
since I put on a new original gas cap fresh from
Mopar. But I still get the code. It's kinda buggin'
me.
How many times do you have to drive it before the MIL
turns off? I could turn it off with my scanner, but I'd
rather let it go off by itself at this point.

BTW,I have new H.O. cams and intake manifold on order!
Have to wait for the manifold for a few weeks. (I'm
expecting gains of 80-100 horsepowers.) :)

P.S. Further troubleshooting still needed on my work
Dak. Haven't had time for two weeks.
