Thanks for the info. I pulled the console last night and my best guess
at this point is that the 'monkey' at the shop that did the AC work had
removed the Hurst lever when he pulled the dash. When he put it back
together he forgot the tighten the two bolts. The lever was just kind of
floating on the shift tower.
Since I've found three other bolts that weren't tight, I think it's safe
to assume that the quality of the repair wasn't up to 5 star standards.
I'll be sending it back over next week along with the photos I took
before I tightened everything back up. Now I've got to figure out what
to do about that P0433.
