Why is the mileage so low? Sitting neglected in storage can be harder on a
vehicle than being used, make sure you know what the story is.

The computer in our '01 is fairly accurate, close enough that I've never felt
the need to double check it. I keep a fuel log spreadsheet, so the only time
I use the computer is for the real time mode. I think it's mostly a relative
thing, so you can tell if you're above or below your average, or test whether
it's better to coast down hills in gear or in neutral... that sort of thing.

As for consumption, I'd guess that it would be within 1-2 MPG of what you got
out of your 2000 Dakota with the 4.7. If you don't remember that far back, I
can share our results from our 2001, but of course you know that your mileage
may vary.
