I've never played with that myself, so the following info is based
on the FSM... Also, I don't have a '98 FSM, the nearest I've got is
'96 and '00. I suspect the '00 will probably be closest in operation
to your '98.

It looks like there will only be 2 wires for the cruise control. I
didn't get really in depth, but from what I can tell, basically how it
works is by sending a voltage to the wheel on one wire and the other
wire is a ground. Pushing each of the buttons (on/off, resume/accel,
set/coast) causes a different amount of resistance to be seen on the
same signal wire, and the computer knows which button you just pressed
based on reading the resistance (or the returned voltage possibly,
like I said, I didn't get into the nitty gritty.) :-)

The '96 FSM shows 3 wires, but the '00 appears to have only two.
They may be different on your '98, but in '00 the wires are red with a
light green stripe and white. '96 used a black with a light blue
stripe, yellow with a red stripe, and white with a light green stripe.

BTW, the FSM says that if you are going to be messing with the air
bag module, disconnect the battery for at least 2 minutes first.

   I hope that helps!
