This.

If you have a decent air compressor, Harbor Freight sells an air powered vacuum pump for a decent price, and they have a gauge manifold set that's decent quality too. Just need to get the fitting that goes between the feed line and the R134a can to be able to charge yourself. I've used it a couple times and I'm pretty pleased with the parts. Don't forget to add the needed PAG oil.

Personally if I were you I'd blow out the condenser coil and remove and drain the compressor, that way you'd be starting with a known-empty system. Too much oil in the system will cause cooling issues. I think I may have screwed myself charging the dumpbus system Sunday. I didn't clear all the oil out and start from a known place, and I think I'm over-oiled now since my system pressures are correct with only about 3/4 of a system charge of refrigerant. At least it's cooling. I still need to throw a thermometer on it and see if it's close to cooling as well as it should. I may just overcharge it a little and call it good if it's not cooling well enough - I think it's only marginal right now but at least it's working. Supposed to be 101 here Thursday.

Mike
