Finally, I decided on the Monroe's because:
Availability (NAPA, Chief, Montgomery Wards, Midas, etc)
Lifetime replacement
Hearsay ("...the shock really does soften under light loads and stiffen under heavy loads...")
Dodge service advisor puts them on customer's Dakotas, Rams and Vans (I also have a Ram Wagon 2500) and says folks are very happy with them.
Price (BEWARE!)
I priced these shocks as follows:
Chiefs $60 ea.
Bill King's Brake-O $55 ea. installed
Local parts house $45 ea.
Midas $181.70 when you buy 4 ($45.43 per) or $55 ea.
Montgomery Wards $34.99 ea.
and the winner is...
NAPA $32.99 ea.
