Why not just a parallel port interface and some software so you can
wire-up your laptop to the OBD. I think using a PC with the right
software would allow a DIYer to not only locate a problem, but keep a
database of all the routine maintenance and problems. I also think it
would me more cost effective with this solution as opposed to buying
multiple testers for certain tasks.
I like the idea myself. I don't know what an authorized dealer or CC
would think though.
