No one is going to convince me that Slick-50/PTFE additives are anything
BUT hype. I've got a bunch of reasons:

1. PTFE is teflon, right? How come they had such a hard time making
it adhere to cookware? It seems to me that it can't possibly adhere to
motor parts that are already covered with oil.

2. DuPont will not license the use of the Teflon trademark for use
in engine oil/additives because their research indicates that it has
no practical benefit. It seems to me that they would have more to
gain by licensing their trademark.

3. What about the stories of 500,000 mile cars before PTFE additives
were available. For my money, frequent oil changes are better.
I'll keep all types of particulate matter out of my motors, thank you
very much.

4. I've heard too many stories about old motors being trashed after
adding Slick-50. The explanations that I have heard are related
to oil starvation caused by oilways plugged by the particulate PTFE.

That's it. Standing by garbed in my Nomex.
