Haven't driven a '97, but I know that various people complain about noise
with Dakotas of all vintages. Don't know about others but my '92 is
pretty quiet, not a luxury car but quieter than the back seat of a friends
'94 or 5 Taurus.
Can't understand why the '97's gas mileage should be any worse than the
earlier Magnum engines Dakotas given similar gearing and equipment. Or is
that another advantage of OBD II?
