I'm not crazy either. If you love big powerful engines because they
sound cool, you're right, the gummint is taking them away. If you love
big powerful engines because they make cars go fast, then you're
mistaken. Cars are faster today than ever before, despite all the
government meddling.

See above. The Malibu is probably faster than comparable V8 sedans of
yesteryear. In fact, it's probably better in almost every way. Unless
the big deal is that V8 rumble.

Yup. And I can't wait until we get our heads the rest of the way out of
the sand and go all metric all the time. Letting people who can't or
won't cope with change keep us from making the conversion is costing
our economy a lot more than the Japanese are, IMHO.

I think we're holding our own just fine.

>i just plain hate all new cars cuz they all look JAPANESE!

Actually, these days, most Japanese-labelled cars are styled in the USA
(OK - California. but it still counts) for American tastes.

I'm definitely missing something here.

Sorry for being so contrary - I definitely don't want to engage in a
flame war. I just had opinions so drastically different from MOR's that
I had to spit 'em out!!!
