You have to realize, though, that if you turn it back too far, you'll be defeating the purpose of the bumped up timing curve. Oh yeah, you can't adjust the timing at idle with the aid of a timing light, either. I tried this and I ended up moving the dist. around about 1/8 turn with no affect on idle. But, when I tried to see if it had done anything when driving the truck, it almost killed the motor about 1,000 rpm's. I think I read in the manual that the computer controls the rpm at idle and you can't do anything to it, no matter how much you move the dist. SO, you have to go trial and error. Only turn it about 1/8" max per tryout. Run your truck up through at least 3/4 way through 2nd gear (guys with the auto) to see if you've got any pinging. If none, then get back under the hood and move the dist. back just a TINY bit. Try it again, if still no pinging, move it a tiny bit further back. Do this until you get a little bit of pinging and then move it back the other way just a little bit. The object is to alleviate the pinging until just to the point at which it will start doing it. That way you take the most advantage of the increased spark curve, BUT you don't peck it to death. Oh yeah, when you yank the MPSBEC out, move the dist back to the original position (or as close as you can to it). It may require playing with its position to get it right again, but just use the same process to do as you did before. Anyway, that's what I did with mine and it took care of the problem just fine.
