No whine from my '97 2WD Sport Reg. cab. Is yours an open diff or the Sure
Grip? Mine is a 3.55SG. I don't think you should be getting any kind of whine
from the rear. I had a friend here at work with a '96 Z28 that at about 10,000
miles got a bad whine from the rear and finally started jerking. He took it in
for service, they did a fluid change, and no more problem. They told him he
needed to change the diff. fluid regularly. I think maybe the Posi additive was
left out on the line. Either way the problem is gone. Have they tried a fluid
change?

I have a 97 2 wheel drive SLT Extented cab. I have ovr 11,000 miles and have
not noticed any problems with steering. It rides very smooth at 60 to 75.

My problem is a high pitch noise from the differential between 50 and 55 mph.
Which is the most common speed of my daily commute. The "factory tech" tells
my dealer that it is common in all 97's And it is louder in mine do to the
tonnneau cover and bed liner. Do you hear anything?
