Before I put the fastbck on my Dakota I had a fibrobec cap Fuel milage stank
BAD and it no pull on the highway! (not suprising for a 3.9 V-6 carburated
truck) From my experiance if your going to have a cap on the box of your
truck, you might as well drag a parachute along for the ride. I'm sure
you'll get a lot better milage with a tonneau cover, or if you remove your
tailgate and use a pro-net. Or if your real adventurious mount the fastback
of a sporty car on the back, a late 80's Plymoth Lazer/Dodge Charger fit
perfectly with a little metal work!
The scarry part is thay you have a V-8 4x4 and your still getting better
millage than my V-6 2wd. Running smooth and pulling as well as this engine
can be expected, showing no error codes I get 16.3 L/100km ==> 14.5 MPG at
120km/h ==> 75 MPH! with the cap I use to get 21L/100km ==> 11.3 MPG. It's
time to get a V-8 Magnum 4x4.
P.S. last time I drove that route from Winnipeg to Banff 2 years ago in my
Dakota, the hall effect gate in the distributor broke off as I was driving
through Bassano Alberta. Do the new Dakota's still have a hall effect gate
in the distributor that is riveted to the distributor shaft by two plastic
rivets?
