Not always true. Hell, if THAT were the case, then by the same token
(according to the highly scientific theory above) RAISING the redline
would INCREASE power. Maybe I should crank up my LT1's redline to 10
grand for the hell of it. I'm sure to double my power!

In my car's case, the power peak is at 5200 RPM (as verifed by a
Dynojet Chassis Dyno) and redline is at 5900. I can raise the redline
till the cows come home and I'm not gonna produce so much as ONE more
pony with the engine's CURRENT configuration. On the other hand, if I
add springs, cam, heads, blah blah blah, then yes, it IS possible to
raise the POWERBAND of the engine, thus increasing the RPM's at which
the engine makes max power.

So, let's ammend the theory above, shall we? "Lowering the redline can
POSSIBLY, in the right circumstances, if the planets are all aligned,
and the God of Horsepower is frowning upon you, and your engine is set
up to make power in the stratospheric RPM range, reduce the horsepower.":)
