SAM:
I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP IN MY DAKOTA AND NOTICED THAT THE FLOAT
MECHANISM WAS HEAVILY WORN. HARD TO EXPLAIN THE DESIGN, LETS JUST SAY IT
IS WEIRD. BUT ANYWAY, MINE WAS HEAVILY WORN IN THE CENTER OF THE
PUMP/SENDING UNIT, CAUSING THE GAUGE TO STAY AT THE HALF WAY MARK FOR A
VERY LONG WHILE UNTIL THE FUEL LEVEL DROPPED ENOUGH TO FORCE THE SENDING
UNIT BACK TO IT'S CORRECT PLACE.
