I want to add to some recent posts about shabby service at the dealership.
Some of you may know that I had on order a 98 Dak CC, 4x2, 318 5spd, hell
everything. Ordered it in early July. Supposed to be delivered in early
Sept. Well it got here today and it's a beauty, but it had one major flaw.
They put on a 3.92 rear end instead of the 3.55.

Deja Vu!!! The same thing happened to me. About a month after I got my 97
4X4 Sport
I was fishing through the glove box, checked out the info panel and read
Axle ratio
1:3.92 something or other.I was sure I'd asked for 3.55 so I checked my
original window sticker and found that it doesnt mention the axle there
(thats what I used to verify the options on my truck that I couldn't see)
I dug deeper and found the original order form I had given to the dealer
when I ordered my truck. Sure as day I had requested the 3.55 gears. I was
fairly surprised to find the error since everything else was perfect, but I
wasn't terrible pissed off. I've spoken with several people on the list
regarding axles and ratios and it seems most have the 3.92 gears anyway so
I dont think its worth sending the truck for a refit. I welcome other
opinions though. Anybody else get the axle switcheroo?
PS I'd take the Dak with a 3.92 axle over a Chevy anytime
