Dodge has always over-built their trucks. I packed an 8 ft. camper
(approx. 2,200 lbs. loaded) on my '78 D100 with a 1500# payload rating
....used to pack a full cord of green alder (4,000 lbs.) in my D200 3/4 ton.
Try running it over a weigh scale some time ... I bet you were packing
2,000 lbs.
